It's a story you'll only see on NBC 26. A former accountant for Robinson Metal inc. in De Pere is accused of embezzling more than one million dollars.

Ryan Homa and his wife Joanne appeared in Brown County civil court Tuesday morning. Homa handled the company's finances since 2007. He was fired last month.

According to a civil complaint, during that time Homa reportedly wrote unauthorized checks for tens of thousands of dollars--and deposited them in his personal account over a hundred times.

The complaint states Homa used the money to buy a home near Howard and deposited the rest into his children's' 529 bank accounts. The judge gave the Homas permission to start liquidating everything, as long as they follow his orders.

"The court further orders that the Homas shall transfer through a trust account," said Judge Marc Hammer. "Liquid assets to Robinson Metal Inc based upon the party's agreement as a good faith payment."

An attorney for Robinson Metal tells us the couple could soon face criminal charges. Attorneys on both sides did not want to comment on the case.
