The new substation electrician apprenticeship program is the first statewide program in Wisconsin to offer hands-on on the job training program leaders say this new program should give Wisconsin a jump start in the electrician trade.

Mark Weber says, "Many of the existing utility workers are retiring within the next ten years. So we need to create that next generation of workers in the utility industry."

Several other different companies do have in-house training but this apprenticeship was developed to meet the needs of all of the industry partners.
