GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin Public Service Corp. wants to
raise its electric rates.
The utility filed a request Friday with the state Public Service
Commission to raise rates in 2012 another 3.3 percent above its May
request for a 3.5 percent increase. The total is now 6.8 percent.
If approved, the company says the request to adjust electric
rates will result in a monthly increase of about $4.30 for typical
WPS residential retail electric customers.
The company says it needs to raise the rates because of new
federal air pollution regulations.
The company also announced Friday that it was withdrawing its
request for a less than 1 percent increase in its natural gas
distribution rate.
