The Wisconsin Department of Tourism is getting behind some local events in an attempt to boost attendance.
They've given grants to a fishing tournament in Algoma and a hockey tournament in Ashwaubenon. Both events are expected to boost local economies with tourist dollars.
Dave Fantile said, "And they are receiving a 7500 dollar grant to assist in their winning bid for the us hockey national championship. The championship will be played in this facility."
The tourism department hopes events like these will keep wisconsin a prime tourist destination.
