The first general recall election is now in the books.
Democratic state senator dave hansen of green bay will keep his district 30 seat after defeating challenger david vander leest last night.
Hundreds of supporters gathered... At the riverside ballroom in green bay last night.
Hansen told the crowd he's grateful for their devotion during the race.
"We're very excited. The emotion in this room, the emotion in this campaign sets a
huge win in a district that has three republican assembly members. People believe in what we're doing. A lot of hard work the past 11 years making contacts in Oconto, Marinette and Green Bay. They really believe in me", said Hansen.
Vander Leest released this statement today about the election results. "We ran a clean campaign with no money to speak of. I am personally happy with the outcome."
