More than 350 food products have been recalled over concerns of Listeria contamination, impacting 42 separate brands. Several people have become ill as a result of exposure to the contaminated food, according to a written statement from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall impacts products sold in all 50 states and parts of Canada and includes include organic and non-organic broccoli, butternut squash, carrots, cauliflower, corn, edamame, green beans, Italian beans, kale, leeks, lima beans, onions, peas, pepper strips, potatoes, potato medley, root medley, spinach, sweet potatoes, various vegetable medleys, blends, and stir fry packages, blueberries, cherries, cranberries, peaches, raspberries, and strawberries.

CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington expanded its voluntary recall of frozen organic and traditional fruits and vegetables on Monday.

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

"Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women, according to federal officials," the FDA said.

Consumers who purchased these products may return them to the store where they were purchased for a refund, or simply discard them.
