Man found beaten in Town of Menasha motel room

A 31-year-old homeless man was found severely beaten in a town of Menasha motel room at 11:19 p.m. Wednesday, according to a town of Menasha Police Department media release.

Officers were sent to a motel room in the 2000 block of Holly Road after receiving information that a man had been severely beaten and appeared to be dead, according to police. Further information was that there was also drug and alcohol use and underage persons in the room.

Officers and paramedics responded to the motel room and were greeted by three men. Officers saw another man lying in the bathroom area who was a injured and unresponsive. The victim, a 31-year-old homeless man, was transported to an area hospital where he remains hospitalized.

Subsequent investigation revealed that another resident of the motel, a 16-year-old boy, was responsible for the injuries to the man. That boy was taken into custody and is being held in secure detention.

One of the men in the room, an 18-year-old homeless man, was taken into custody after he misidentified himself to officers, according to the media release. An officer recognized him from past contacts and it was found that he had six outstanding warrants for his arrest.
