Heading to the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon this weekend? Here's what you need to know

Thousands of runners are heading to Northeast Wisconsin this weekend to take part in the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon, and thousands more will line the streets to cheer them on.

So whether you're running or watching, there's a lot you need to know if you're heading to Lambeau Field this weekend for the event.

The race expo will be held Friday from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m., and runners can also pick up their packets during those times.

For the first time this year, race organizers are offering a talk called "Spectator 101" to teach race spectators what they need to know while watching the race.

"We wanted to take a little extra time and do something special for spectators, help them understand how to navigate the course, key points along the course, things to say, things not to say to their athlete," said Toni Jaeckels, the race director.

Spectators should also be aware of road closures in the area. The main closure will be Lombardi Avenue will be closed between Ridge Road and Oneida Street starting at 6 a.m. Saturday and 4:30 a.m. Sunday for runners to get to the starting line.

The marathon begins at 7 a.m. Sunday with the half-marathon to follow. For information on race routes, click here.

Here is the complete schedule of events:

Friday, May 19th:

  • Expo, registration and packet pick up opens from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Free Yoga for Runners from 5:30 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. at Oneida Nation Deck

Saturday, May 20th:

  • 5K packet pick-up opens at 7 a.m.
  • WPS Kids Power Run packet pick-up opens at 9:30 a.m.
  • 5K at Lambeau Field begins at 9 a.m.
  • WPS Kids Power Run begins at 10:30 a.m.
  • Free Yoga for Runners from 12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m. at Oneida Nation Deck
  • Spectator 101 Expo talk at 1 p.m. in the Lambeau Field Atrium
  • First Timers Forum from 2:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. in the Lambeau Field Atrium
  • Expo open/Distance event packet pick up o[pen from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m.
  • Registration and packet pick-up closes at 6 p.m.

Sunday, May 21st:

  • Marathon, Marathon Relay begins at 7 a.m.
  • Half Marathon, Half Marathon relay begins at 8 a.m.
  • Half Marathon course closes at noon.
  • Marathon course closes at 2 p.m.

Wednesday, May 24th

  • Volunteer Appreciation Party at 5:30 p.m. at Green Bay Distillery
