Starting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday there will be an increased police presence in neighborhoods on the east and west sides of the city in the neighborhoods near the Fox River (Downtown business district, Broadway Ave, Military business district, Old North and Navarino neighborhood).

Police Officers, administrative staff, and Crime Prevention Specialists will be making contact with residents and local business owners to listen to their concerns, answer questions, inform them about recent events and to help form working partnerships to enhance the quality of life in Green Bay.

“We want everyone to know that preventing crime and working with our community partners are our highest priorities,” said Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith. “Today many of our administrative staff and senior command officers will join our patrol officers out in the field.”

According to the Center of Problem Orientated Policing, crime and disorder occurs when there is an offender, place, and victim. Police say they're aiming to educate residents to help protect them and make the community safer.

“I am excited to be part of this event … getting more officers-including me- out from behind desks and into the community is something we will be doing more of throughout the spring and summer months,” Smith said.
