At 1:24 p.m. on May 2, officers of the Green Bay Police Department responded to a local hospital for a victim who had a gunshot wound. The victim, a 23-year-old woman from Green Bay was able to walk in the emergency department and was later determined to have a non-life threatening injury.

The investigation revealed the shooting occurred within a vehicle, as another passenger was carelessly handling a gun, subsequently firing one round into the victim.

As the victim was at the hospital, officers located a vehicle they believed was involved on West Walnut Street and Chestnut Street within the hour of the victim walking into the hospital.

Officers took into custody the suspect, Justin Hutcherson, a 17-year-old Green Bay resident. Hutcherson was charged with first degree reckless injury and possession of dangerous weapon by a person under 18. Hutcherson will be in court later today.
