A Green Bay Police officer has been recognized internationally for his work with the department and in the community.

Captain Kevin Warych has received the International Association of Chiefs of Police 40 Under 40 Award. He is the department's Public Information Officer and Chief of Staff.

Captain Warych was chosen because of his work to build positive relationships in the community, the police department said.

"His tireless efforts bringing diverse groups of people together to solve problems have contributed to Green Bay’s dramatic drop in crime during 2017, and have helped improve the quality of life for everyone in Green Bay," the department said.

Other winners of the award include police officers from countries around the world, including Belgium, United Arab Emirates and Canada, Green Bay Police said.

“I can’t think of a more deserving recipient of this award than Captain Warych,” said Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith. “Captain Warych exemplifies the professionalism, hard work and dedication of our Green Bay Police Officers. His tireless work helps bring our community together and keeps Green Bay safe.”
