As the temperature falls, the leaves are changing in Northeast Wisconsin. The best part about living here? There are so many great places to get a good look at the fall colors.

One area with multiple spots is Door County.

"All these different spots along the way that you can stop, especially on the western coast with these bluffs, you get some really scenic overlooks," said Jon Jarosh with the Door County Visitor Bureau. "Great, great places to view color."

In Potawatomi State Park, you can climb up to the top of the lookout tower for a gorgeous view of the leaves changing. However, there are options in the park that don't require as many steps, like the old ski hill.

"It provides a great overview of the trees and you can see the water behind us," Jarosh explained.

Or venture outside the park and take in the breathtaking views across the peninsula.

"One of the reason I think it's so popular in the fall is that we have so many of these great spots really close to each other," Jarosh said.

You can also head west of Door County to Mountain, Wisconsin to check out the Mountain Fire Lookout Tower with a view of the Northwoods.

"I don't know of too many other places where you can get up to this height and see out that far," Tyler Bormann with the U.S. Forest Service said.

You may have noticed the colors aren't at their peak just yet. The National Weather Service said wet weather earlier this summer, followed by a dry spell, has played a role in that.

You can expect to see the best and brightest fall colors in mid-October.

"The fall colors are primarily a result of a reduction of intensity and duration of sunlight this time of year, and the cooler temperatures especially at night," said Jeff Last with the National Weather Service.
