UPDATE:  Grand Chute Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash between a pick-up truck and a squad car, as well as the rollover crash the officer was investigating prior to when the squad was hit.

-------

One person is seriously hurt after they crash their pick-up truck into the back of a Grand Chute squad car.

The officer was parked on the shoulder of Interstate 41 near College Avenue in Grand Chute assisting with a rollover crash that had occurred around 1:30 Saturday morning.

While the officer was helping with the first crash, that's when the pick-up slammed into the back of the squad car.

The second crash is what completely shut down I-41 southbound for two hours Saturday morning.

Four people from the rollover crash were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the pick-up is being treated for serious injuries.  The officer was not hurt in the crash.

Appleton Police, Winnebago County Sheriff, Outagamie County Sheriff, Grand Chute Fire Department and Fox Crossing Fire Department all responded to assist with the second crash.

Both crashes are still under investigation.
