Several families are receiving help from the Red Cross after a fire at an apartment complex in Ashwaubenon.

Fire crews arrived at the 12-unit apartment complex around 6 p.m. Sunday night.

Flames could be seen coming from the second story windows of the building and people inside were being evacuated.

Crews worked for about 40 minutes to get the fire under control.

The unit where the fire started was unoccupied at the time.

One person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Four cats were rescued and reunited with their owners.

All 12 units of the building are considered not livable at this time. The Red Cross is providing help to everyone displaced.

Damage estimates are around $250,000 at this time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
