Fond du Lac County Sheriff Mick Fink called a meeting Monday evening in the Town Of Eldorado.

Dozens of people attended the meeting at the community center. Residents say they are worried about a court order placing what the sheriff is calling, a "sexually violent person" in their town.

The Fond du Lac County District Attorney was also on hand to explain the legal process to the people and what their options are.

People at the meeting say they are determined to be at the next hearing.

"I'm hoping the judge sees my face, and sees other people's faces, and realizes that these people care, and that maybe he needs to take into consideration before he places somebody who's not even from our county, in our area, in our community.  So I'm hoping it makes a difference,” said Donna Mertens, a resident.

"This is an issue the folks here in Eldorado and Fond du Lac County dealt with about a year ago, with the Milwaukee county resident," says Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney, "and this community has said over and over, we'll take people from our own county, but we have an issue when you place someone from out of county here."

The attorney for the Town of Eldorado tells NBC26 he has filed a motion for a temporary restraining order to prevent the placement, while the judge reviews the town's motion for reconsideration at a hearing on December 8.
