Wisconsin Gov Picks DOJ Administrator To Head Prisons
MADISON, Wisconsin (AP) - Gov. Scott Walker has appointed one of the state Justice Department's top cops to head Wisconsin's prison system.
Walker announced Friday that Division of Criminal Investigation Administrator Ed Wall will take over as Department of Corrections secretary on Oct. 27. He will replace Gary Hamblin, who retired last month.
Wall served as a state trooper in New Hampshire before moving to Wisconsin in 1999.
He worked as a Justice Department drug agent and ran the agency's Investigative Services Bureau before former Gov. Jim Doyle appointed him Wisconsin Emergency Management administrator. Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen hired Wall back to Justice in 2010 to head DCI.
