Coach Attacks Player
FISHERS, Ind. (AP) -- A Wisconsin basketball coach faces a battery charge in Indiana after allegedly attacking one of his players.
Police in the Indianapolis suburb of Fishers say the 17-year-old victim and a witness told officers that Fred Freeman of Hartford, Wis., verbally abused the girl after the team lost a game, then punched her in the face, threw her to the ground, got on top of her and put his hands around her throat.
The victim sustained scrapes and scratches to her arms and legs.
The 47-year-old Freeman was arrested Monday night at a restaurant. He was due to be released on his own recognizance from the Hamilton County Jail Tuesday.
It's not clear if Freeman has an attorney. A residential phone listed in his name was disconnected
