Pay Parking Meters Via Text Message
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Some Wisconsin drivers will soon be able to communicate with their parking meters via text message. Starting next month, hundreds of meters in Milwaukee and Madison
will be equipped to send parkers text messages when their time is about to expire. It will also allow them to add more time via a credit card. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the system already went into effect in Lake Geneva on Wednesday, a week ahead of schedule. Besides regular parking rates, Milwaukee and Lake Geneva customers will pay a 25-cent fee for each extension by text. That fee will be 45 cents in Madison. Shirley Krug, of the Milwaukee Department of Public Works, says it will allow customer convenience and can increase revenue.
