Thompson Raises $656,000 in Three Months
MADISON, WI (AP) - Tommy Thompson says he has raised more than $656,000 in three months and has about $544,000 cash on hand in his bid to win the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate race.
Thompson released his latest fundraising figures to The Associated Press on Monday in advance of Tuesday's deadline. Thompson officially entered the race in October, so this report showing fundraising between October and December is the first he has had to file.
His numbers are better than GOP rival Mark Neumann who raised $518,000 over the period.
Wisconsin state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald is also seeking the Republican nomination. His report had yet to be filed as of midday Monday.
U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin is the only Democrat running. She raised $1.1 million over the period.
