Spitting on WI recall supporters
DODGEVILLE, Wis. (AP) - Authorities in southwestern Wisconsin say two men have been arrested for allegedly spitting on people who were gathering signatures to recall Gov. Scott Walker.
The Iowa County sheriff's department says the two were arrested over the weekend. The alleged incident was reported just after noon on Saturday in the village of Arena.
A Capital Times report (http://bit.ly/rObRS8 ) says the suspects are 55 and 28 years old and both from Barneveld. They were arrested on tentative charges of disorderly conduct.
Both men posted bond and have been released from jail.
Circulators need to gather about 540,000 valid signatures by Jan. 17 to force a recall election for Walker. The recall effort is fueled by anger over the proposal passed this year that effectively ended collective bargaining rights for public workers.
