Report: Wisconsin lost 9,700 jobs last month

 MADISON, Wis. (AP) - New data from the state Department of Workforce Development shows Wisconsin lost nearly 10,000 jobs over the last month.
The agency reports the state lost 9,700 jobs from September to October. The private sector shed 9,300 positions. Manufacturing, health care, construction and retail sectors all saw losses.
The private sector as whole still counted 14,500 more jobs than a year ago. The public sector reported 8,500 fewer jobs than in October 2010.
The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.7 percent, down slightly from 7.8 percent in September and unchanged from October 2010.
The national seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in October was 9 percent, down slightly from 9.1 percent in September and down from 9.7 percent in October 2010.
