The Beaver Dam police chief and school district superintendent did not want to take any chances when receiving an email threat regarding the high school.

Instead, they canceled classes at all Beaver Dam schools Friday.

The threats were sent to an assistant principal of the high school, claiming to hurt students and staff with guns and explosives during the 5th period of school Friday, police said.

Two students at Beaver Dam were interviewed in connection to the threats. Police said they're also trying to speak with another out-of-state juvenile who is believed to be connected to the threats.

School District Superintendent Steve Vessey was visibly upset at a news conference Friday and spoke out against the threats.

"This is an ongoing problem," Vessey said. "It's an ongoing problem in Beaver Dam, in Dodge County, Wisconsin and our nation."

The decision to close schools was made around 6 a.m. Friday, Vessey said.

Vessey does not plan to reopen schools until police find the third juvenile out of state, he said.
