Happy National Arbor Day! Friday is a day to get together and celebrate the importance of trees.

National Arbor Day is always celebrated on the last Friday in April. Many states observe the day on different dates based on the best tree planting times in their area.

Here's some events going in our area:

Fox Crossing

Fox Crossing is celebrating its 11th year as a Tree City USA Community.

A Sugar Maple tree will be planted at Spring Road Elementary School for Arbor Day.

Parks and Recreation staff will lead the planting and teach students the importance of trees and the proper way to plant them.

Students will also be given a tree seedling to take home and plant in their own yards.

The planting will take place at 10 a.m. Friday.

Grand Chute

Grand chute will celebrate Arbor Day with a tree planting.

Students from Badger and Houdini Elementary Schools have been invited to Maple Edge Park for the celebration.

The planting begins at 10 a.m. Friday.

Berlin

Some area students will get a lesson in tree planting Friday morning.

Oshkosh Door Company is donating a Sienna Glen Maple tree to St. John Lutheran School in Berlin.

The company manufactures wooden doors so they're recognizing the importance of growing trees for future generations.

The planting will take place near the flagpole at 11:15 a.m. Friday.
