An 18-year-old man could spend 40 years behind bars for allegedly robbing a bank.

Joshua Xiong was charged with Robbery of a Financial Institution Friday after police say he stole more than $2,000 from the Huntington Bank on the 1900 block of Calumet Street in Appleton Thursday afternoon.

Xiong allegedly passed a note to the teller saying, "Fill the bag...I have a gun," according to the Calumet County District Attorney.

He then fled on a bike, police said.

Police said Xiong admitted to the crime.

"Mr. Xiong explained to the officer that he did it to help support his family, so it's sad to see an 18-year-old in this situation," said Nathan Haberman, Calumet County District Attorney.

Bail was set at $7,500. Xiong cannot drink, use any drugs, or possess a firearm. He also cannot have any contact with any branches of Huntington Bank.
