Ashwaubenon, WI -- As high school girls basketball teams chase their dreams of a WIAA State Tournament title, their fans are filling the stands at the Resch Center to show their support, win or lose.

In Kewaunee, there was no class on Friday. Students traveled to Ashwaubenon to root for their girls' high school basketball team.

"The fan base is better than it has ever been right now," said freshman Shea Carmichael.

They'll have to make up the lost school day in June, but they say it's worth it. They're also weighing in on the new venue after the tournament moved from Madison to the Green Bay area.

"The depth from the Kohl Center to the Resch Center is really different."

Also cruising to a title match, the Notre Dame girls. They're rooted on by a robust academy of fans.

"We closed school at noon. Everybody came over here. We've sold more tickets this year than we have ever for state tournament appearances," said Ken Flaten, Notre Dame Athletic Director

"A lot of parents come out and watch it, friends of parents, so they got a lot of adults that follow," said Paul Mason of De Pere.

Some adults even skipped out on work to cheer on their team, and they'll be back at the Resch Center for the final round of play on Saturday.
