Neighbors Hope Meth Bust is Isolated
Appleton-- Four men were arrested Monday in Appleton on suspicion of having and distributing "pot" and "meth." Neighbors in the area say there is no easy solution to what they call a growing problem.
Weather wise, Howard Hayes knew what he was getting into when he and his wife left Sacramento, California for Appleton in 1996. Nevertheless, it was a chance to get away from a dangerous place, where crime far too often, came right up to his front door. "Drug busts went down in our front yard at three in the morning," Hayes recalls. But what Hayes says he didn't expect was for the same kind of crime to eventually follow him to his new home. "You're seeing more crime, you're seeming more people walking the streets," Hayes adds. Hayes says it takes entire communities working together to help bring down crime and prevent drug use.
The men arrested in Monday's bust are all being held in the Calumet County jail. Appleton Police identified nearly 20 items of evidence during their search and arrests.
