Slippery Roads Make Nasty Commute
A 20 car crash on the Lake Butte Des Morts Bridge in Oshkosh caused a traffic nightmare Tuesday afternoon. Northbound Highway 41 was backed up for miles. The road reopened around 4PM.
We spoke with one woman on the phone, while she was stuck in the pile up.
"I have glass in me. I was just really shaken up, but I'm OK," Whitney Sillman said.
Sillman had a white knuckle ride in white out conditions.
"The semi hit the backseat driver side, then after that it smashed out my back window, and after that everyone was piling up behind us," Sillman said.
And on Highway 41 in Dodge County, a 911 call from another driver.
"As I'm slowing down I hit. I started to spin out, and I hit another car," the driver told a dispatcher.
Photos show semis jack knifed and crashed into the ditch. Nine cars were damaged in the 14 car pile up.
But in Manitowoc County, truck driver Mark Kasper now known as a saint.
"You try and help everybody out, and someday you hope you'll be returned that favor," Kasper said.
No one was seriously hurt in any of those crashes. But a separate accident killed a driver near Oshkosh. Police believe icy roads may be to blame.
