Dianna Siveny Makes First Court Appearance
APPLETON, Wis. – One of three women arrested in connection with a murder that happened 5 years ago is in court for the first time today.
Dianna Siveny was arrested Friday for alleged involvement in the death of Lara Plamann, who was killed in 2007.
Siveny remained quiet during her first court appearance, but the criminal complaint says much more.
“I think the police reports are over 300 pages long,” said Carrie Schneider, the Outagamie County District Attorney.
Last week, Rosie Campbell, who is one of the three women, charged with 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, told police what happened the night of October 17, 2007.
“You never know what's going to come, you never know who suddenly is going to make statements,” said Schneider. “But law enforcement has not slept on this one, I can tell you that.”
According to Campbell, she and Dianna Siveny's daughter Kandi drove to Wisconsin and planned to kill Dianna's girlfriend, Lara Plamann. Campbell said the Siveny’s offered her $5,000.
Campbell said they were under the direction of Dianna Siveny.
"A beating was not enough now, they should make it look like an accident, get it done, wear gloves," Campbell said in the criminal complaint.
But when they got to Plamann's house, Campbell said she "chickened out". So Kandi allegedly shot Plamann on the Greenville property she shared with her domestic partner Dianna.
After Plamann died, they got in the car and drove back to Minnesota. Campbell said the Siveny’s gave her $300.00 and additional money and drugs to “keep her mouth shut.”
But Campbell said she kept a "memento" from that night; a bullet from the gun. Law enforcement later confirmed that bullet was consistent with the bullet found in Lara during autopsy.
Today, Lara Plamann's family talks about the latest developments with police help.
“It's been a long time. We know that, they know that, but without their dedication and preserving, we never would have gotten to where we are today,” said Casey Plamann, Lara’s brother.
“Very never wracking for a little while there,” said Abby Hopfensperger, Lara’s sister. “But we knew it had to be something good if they were adamant about meeting with us immediately.”
Dianna Siveny is facing a life sentence. She's being held on a $1 million cash bond, and is instructed not to contact Plamann's family or the other two defendants. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 25th.
Kandi Siveny and Rosie Campbell live in St. Paul, Minn. They have an extradition hearing scheduled for this afternoon.
