Carnival Cruise Ship Nightmare
Triumph Dead in the Water
MOBILE, ALABAMA--You may have heard the horror stories from on board the carnival cruise ship Triumph. There are 4200 passengers and crew members are on board.
The ship caught fire and lost power sunday night, setting off an awful chain of events on board including sweltering temperatures and a shortage of food and bathroom facilities.
"The worst part is the bathrooms. There's no water," said Lindsay Petersen, a passenger on board. "You can't really flush so everyone's going in little plastic baggies and putting it outside their rooms.
Triumph has been dead in the water and drifting north since sunday. The ship is now being towed to Alabama. At just six knots, it will likely not reach the coast until late Wednesday evening or early Thursday Morning.
Carnival officials say they will reimburse passengers and offer them credit on a future cruise.
