From Classroom to Stage
Teacher Rocks With Students
A local teacher is taking a lesson from the classroom, to the stage, joining forces with his students for a little real life lesson in rock n roll.
Marc Jimos is the band director at Ashwaubenon High School and leads the Jaguar Jazz Band.
Jimos is also in a band himself, comprised of fellow teachers, it's called Big Mouth and The Power Tool Horns.
"It's a real fun band. We've had a good time doing it over the years," Jimos said.
Now he's joining forces with his students for unique night of music and fun called Jukebox Saturday Night.
A concert merging the student Jaguar Jazz Band, and the all teacher Big Mouth Band.
"It's nice to have the teacher actually interacting with our band. I've seen big mouth perform before and i think it's going to be really exciting to see that and be inspired," student Katie Hayes said.
It's all to help raise money for the music department.
But Jimos said he hopes letting his students see how music has continue to be a part of his life through the years, will instill in them a lifetime of love for music.
"I think it's important to see no matter what you do music can still be a part of your life," student Emily Schultz said.
If you'd like to see the Jaguar Jazz Band and Big Mouth and The Power Tool Horns, and help support Ashwaubenon High School's music department, the event is Saturday January 26th at
the Stadium View Bar and Grille at 1963 Holmgren Way.
Doors open at 7 pm.
