Couple Found Dead Inside Home
GREEN BAY--Police continue to investigate a married couple's mysterious death.
Officers were called to West Point Road on the city's west side around nine Thursday morning.
That's when they found a husband and wife lying dead on the bedroom floor.
Neighbors tell us the married couple were good people who kept to themselves. News of their death has left the community shocked, saddened, and scared.
"It raises the question of safety," neighbor Scott Milheiser said.
Milheiser sees a cold reality across the street.
"It's kind of scary I think until we know the details of what went on," Milheiser said. "I watched this afternoon as things evolved and saw they took two people out of the home who obviously were dead."
Thursday morning the 49-year-old man's co-worker went to the couple's home to check-in because police say the man didn't show up for work for two days.
That's when officers tell us the co-worker saw the man and his 52-year-old wife lying dead on the bedroom floor.
"There were no obvious signs of what caused their death. At this point, we treat it as a death investigation," said Captain Todd Thomas, with Green Bay Police.
Investigators found no weapons, and there were no gas leaks inside the home. But police are not ruling anything out.
"We're still trying to contact family members, we talked to neighbors, we'll talk to other employees and family members to see what was happening in the relationship. But again, there were no signs of obvious trauma," Captain Thomas said.
Neighbors tell us the couple lived at the home for over 10 years and were from California.
"I think the whole neighborhood, the people that knew these people are probably going to be in shock for a couple of days once they know what happened," Milheiser said.
Police are not releasing the couple's names because they're still trying to notify their family.
