Police Detain Person in Capitol Rotunda
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A person who allegedly made a threat against the Wisconsin state Capitol on his Facebook page and then told police he had a molotov cocktail in his backpack after he entered the building has been arrested.
Police closed one entrance of the Capitol and evacuated a portion of the building as they investigated the contents of his backpack outside.
The incident Tuesday afternoon occurred just hours before Gov. Scott Walker was slated to deliver his State of the State speech before a joint meeting of the Legislature.
A press release from Walker's Department of Administration says the suspect is in custody and charges are pending.
The release says Capitol Police received information about the Facebook threat and then identified the suspect after he entered the building.
