Former Green Bay Mayor Sam Halloin Passes Away

GREEN BAY, Wis.-- Former Green Bay Mayor Sam Halloin has died. Halloin served as Mayor from 1979-1995

Current mayor Jim Schmitt issued a statement saying, "“I always enjoyed meeting with Mayor Halloin to discuss the greater Green Bay community. He admirably served the City of Green Bay for sixteen
years."

Mayor Halloin led an effort to revitalize the city's near west side along the Fox River. Veterans Square and the Neville Public Museum were constructed due in part of those efforts. Mayor Schmitt added, “I
always respected Mayor Halloin as a man of the highest integrity.  His dedication to public
service improved the lives of all residents of the City. Dona and I extend our heartfelt sympathy
to the entire Halloin family.”

Halloin was 89.
