Green Bay Council to Discuss Gas Plant Issue
GREEN BAY, Wis.-- The next step in the battle over a gasification plant in Green Bay could happen Tuesday night at the City Council meeting.
Oneida Seven Generations Corporation was granted to build the facility last year. But, the council voted to revoke that permit on a 7-5 vote after city leaders claimed they were mislead about the initial plans. Oneida Seven Generations Corp. filed suit shortly after the council's action.
The gasification plant transforms trash into energy and has become a hot button issue over the emissions it produces. Some say the smokestacks and emissions are harmful to the environment.
Onedia Seven Generations says its plan has passed government safety regulations.
NBC26's Brian Miller will have more on this developing story tonight on NBC26 Live at 5:00 and 6:00.
