Friends, Family to Ask Kimberly to Reconsider Charlie Knuth's Education Request

KIMBERLY, Wis.- In a show of support, Charlie Knuth's mother, Trisha, plans to ask the Kimberly School Board to reconsider its decision not to allow the 6-year-old back into the district.
Trisha Knuth says the Kimberly School District dropped Charlie's open enrollment status while the Darboy child was in Minnesota undergoing a second stem cell transplant to treat a rare and painful skin disease.
District Superintendent Bob Mayfield says he denied the request for reinstatement because Charlie requires home bound services. Mayfield also stated Charlie would be welcome back to Kimberly schools once he's able to attend classes on campus.
Charlie had his educational needs met by Kimberly before his recent hospitalization. The state says Charlie should go through the Kaukauna School District which educates children in the Darboy area where the Knuth family lives.
Trisha Knuth says that is not an option and will continue to fight to get Charlie reunited with the Kimberly teachers who have educated him in the past.
