Brown County Gets Tech Savvy
GREEN BAY, Wis.-- Brown County is looking for ways to communicate through social media. County leaders are in class, learning about the effectiveness of sites like Twitter and Facebook.
Leaders want to get everything they can out of social media, in terms of informing the public and promoting services. That takes setting guidlines and getting everyone up-to-speed on the possibilities at their fingertips. "Intergrating and cross-promoting eachother, so it kind of rolls up into that county umbrella," said Paul Gazdik, Brown County's Emergency Management Coordinator.
"...So that we can make Brown County residents aware of the great resources we have to offer," added County Executive Troy Streckenbach.
Most county departments are not starting from scratch, they've been "posting", "sharing", and "tweeting" for some time. "We'll post events happening, special story times, Santa visits," explained Library Communications Director Sue Lagerman "Share our stories within government and maybe somebody can read something and say you know what, I didn't know they had this in the county," added Zoo and Park Director Neil Anderson.
A committee was formed to develop a social media guideline.
