Last Day of Deer/Gun Season, Best Conditions Yet
Manitowoc-- The final day of Wisconsin's Deer/Gun season ushered in some of the best hunting conditions, yet. Temperatures in the 50's and 60's have been swapped with 20's and 30's. "The cold weather definitely makes them move around more and that's what happened with this buck today," said Courtney Zima, who was hunting Sunday with her father, Don.
Don Zima brought down a 10pt. buck around 9:30AM Sunday.
"This is the first buck that I've seen for the gun season . Probably the only one that I wanted to see," Zima said with humble, satisfaction.
Plus, snow fell in parts of Northeast Wisconsin giving hunters a better shot at tracking deer.
Deer registration stations across our area are reporting, hundreds more deer have been taken down this season compared to last. "We're ahead of last year as far as registration. Part of that has got to do with, the season was early and we had decent, but not perfect conditions, opening weekend," said Wisconsin DNR's Jeff Pritzl.
A ten day, "Muzzle-loader" season beings Monday.
