MILWAUKEE, WI (AP) -- Milwaukee County deputies have arrested a suspected wrong-way motorist accused of driving more than 15 miles in the wrong lane of the freeway.

Authorities say the 21-year-old Waukesha man was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-43 near downtown Milwaukee on Saturday about 2:20 a.m.  A squad car with lights and sirens activated drove parallel to the vehicle, and a deputy tried to get the driver's attention by shining a spotlight into the vehicle.

The driver ignored the squad car, and at one point abruptly made a U-turn in traffic and headed northbound.  A deputy eventually stopped him.  Preliminary tests showed he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

The sheriff's office is seeking charges including first-offense drunken driving and recklessly endangering safety.
