In light of Sunday's tragedy, Senator Lena Taylor and Representative Penny Bernard-Schaber re-introduce a bill to keep weapons out of abusers' hands.

The current state law requires firearms to be surrendered if a judge issues a restraining order. But turning them in is on the "honor system."

With the proposed bill, if a person doesn't surrender their firearm within 48-hours of a restraining order a warrant will be issued for their arrest. The bill will be re-introduced in January.
