Traffic Stop Turns Violent in New London
NEW LONDON, Wis.- A 19 year old Hortonville man is in custody faces several charges after a traffic stop in New London last night. Officers say Mario F. Silva was pulled over Wednesday night just after 10:30 for a minor traffic violation. A strong odor of marijuana smoke came from the car and that's when the violence began.
Investigators say Silva ran from the scene and officers went after him. Once the officer caught up with Silva, investigators say he choked the officer and tried to get his weapon. After a struggle, Silva was arrested and taken into custody.
According to the statement, Silva faces charges of battery to Law Enforcement, Strangulation/Suffocation, Attempt to Disarm a Peace Officer and Possession with Intent to Deliver THC.
