Teens to Stand Trial in Great Grandmother Murder
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) -- A judge has decided two teens will stand trial for allegedly killing and robbing the one boy's great grandmother.
The question now is which court will the trial take place. Both Antonio Barbeau and Nathan Paape face first degree intentional homicide charges as adults. The District attorney wants to prosecute the 13 year olds in adult court. because, if convicted they would face life in prison. But one of the boy's attorney, George Limbeck is pushing for a case in juvenile court where the boys would serve less time behind bars if convicted.
Prosecutors allege the boys used a hatchet and hammer to kill 78-year-old Barbara Olson's home on Sept. 17 before stealing jewelry and a car. Her daughter discovered her body in the garage two days later.
