Tammy Baldwin's DNC Exposure
It was a big night at the DNC for U.S. Senate candidate Tammy Baldwin. The Wisconsin congresswoman hopes the exposure will give her a push in the U.S. senate race against republican Tommy Thompson.
"Paul Ryan, Scott Walker, Tommy Thompson they think they're the only ones who speak for Wisconsin,” Tammy Baldwin said.
Baldwin in the spotlight as a blue-blooded cheese head.
"We've worked to make things paper, engines, tools, ships and yes, cheese, brats and beer,” Baldwin said.
Baldwin hopes to replace Herb Kohl who's retiring after 24 years in the senate, but recent polls show her trailing behind her republican rival Tommy Thompson.
"For Tammy Baldwin to go say that Governor Walker, Congressman Ryan and Tommy Thompson are out of touch is laughable at best,” Republican Party of Wisconsin spokesman Ben Sparks said.
Republicans not afraid of her national exposure swinging Wisconsin blue.
"Tammy Baldwin is nothing more than a Dane County liberal who is out of touch. She's one of the most liberal members of congress. I think Wisconsin voters have made it very clear,” Sparks said.
Baldwin rallies the blue base hoping it will be enough.
“Come November, the Wisconsin I know, the America I love will speak out loud and clear. And keep us moving forward,” Baldwin said.
We reached out to Tommy Thompson's campaign to get reaction on Baldwin's speech, but his spokesman has not returned our calls.
