New Disturbing Details on Homicide
DOOR COUNTY--An Illinois man now facing homicide charges in the death of his pregnant girlfriend. 35-year-old Brian Cooper faces two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and one count of third-degree sexual assault.
The criminal complaint is only three pages long, but filled with disturbing details. It takes you inside Cooper's mind once he and his girlfriend got back to their hotel room after a wedding in Door County last month.
According to the complaint, Cooper told an investigator his pregnant girlfriend Alisha Bromfield, wanted to break it off with him, and he "didn't want to go home single".
It goes on, stating Bromfield was acting "cold and indifferent" towards Cooper when they got back to their hotel room.
The complaint then states Cooper smoked cigarettes and drank beer while watching Bromfield sleep for two-and-half hours.
After she woke up, Cooper asked her to watch a DVD the next day, but when Bromfield reportedly refused--the complaint states Cooper strangled her and Bromfield cried out, "Don't do this to me, think of the baby."
But Cooper told police he strangled her to death then had sex with her body.
Cooper stated he covered Bromfield's body with a blanket because "This was the respectful thing to do". He then tried to kill himself stating, "I was disgusted with myself."
But after several failed attempts, Cooper turned himself in. He's set to appear in court Wednesday morning. If convicted, he faces life in prison. We called the Door County District Attorney's office today, but the D.A. did not want to comment on the case.
