Oconto Fire Damages House
OCONTO, Wis.--Firefighters in the city of Oconto responded to a Tuesday morning fire on the 500 block of Congress Street.
When they arrived at the two story home, they found smoke coming from an upstairs window. The owners of the home told crews there was no one inside at the time. Firefighters found the source of the fire and were able to put it out, keeping the fire isolated with the home sustaining only minor smoke and water damage.
Investigators tell NBC26 there is a strong possibility the fire was caused by children playing with matches or lighters. There were no working smoke detectors at the residence. No injuries were reported.
