Tips to Save Energy During a Heat Wave

GREEN BAY, Wis.--With the heat of summer baring down on us, many are trying to stay cool without breaking the bank. Experts say there are ways to battle the heat wave.

Energy Conservation tips:

*To get the most of your air conditioner, set the thermostat to no lower than 78 degrees.

*Only use the A/C when you are home. If you want cool your home before you arrive, set a timer that turns on the air conditioner 30 minutes before you get home.

*Turn off non essential appliances like Stereos, TV's and other devices that produce unwanted heat.

*Time your appliance usage. Only use appliances that require a lot of electricity during off peak hours early in the morning or late at night.

*Prepare for possible power outages. Keep an energy supply kit with a flashlight, battery powered radio, a first aid kit, bottled water and extra batteries.
