Tricia Knuth: "I'm Not Sure Where this is Going to Go."
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.--Charlie Knuth remains in Children's Hospital in Minneapolis after suffering a setback in his battle against a rare and painful skin disease. Charlie's mother, Trisha, tells NBC26 Charlie started feeling sick yesterday prompting doctors to have him return to Children's Hospital as soon as possible.
In her latest Caring Bridge Journal entry, Tricia Knuth said Charlie was oozing blood and was running a low grade fever. He was lethargic on the way to Minneapolis. Once he arrived, doctors gave him a antibiotics and a platelets transfusion.
Charlie is battling Epidermolysis Bullosa. The condition causes skin itching, blisters and infections.
Knuth received a stem cell transplant in late 2010 and has shown signs of improvement over the last year. His battle against the disease has touched Northeast Wisconsin and the world. A Japanese television network profiled Charlie's struggle in a documentary earlier this year.
Tricia Knuth says her son is 'very sick' but is fighting. "Praying my "little Char Char" can just pull through this one. I have said so many times, I just don't know how he can get through this. But. he always does. God I love him." Tricia wrote in her Journal.
