Second Body Found in Dane Co. Lake
TOWN OF PLEASANT SPRINGS -Two teenage girls who disappeared from a beach have been found dead in a Dane County lake.
The sheriff's department tells WISC-TV in Madison that Sydnie Kwiatkowski and Emma Maurer, 16, were with friends at Lake Kegonsa in LaFollette County Park Thursday.
Authorities had found one body Friday and Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney told the media around 3:30 p.m. Friday they had rescue crews searching the lake for the second girl.
Friends of those girls left the beach for a brief time Thursday and when they returned, Kwiatkowski and Maurer weren't there, but their personal items were still on the beach.
Sheriff Dave Mahoney says the two were last seen swimming late Thursday afternoon. A fisherman last saw the girls swimming in the lake about 4:30 p.m.
