GREEN BAY, Wis.-45 pounds lighter than when she started, Alyssa Brown will be conquering the Bellin Run for her third time. " You know, with every step in the Bellin Run, it's a step towards the finish line, and that was kind of my story.

Alyssa's story began in 2010 as she took a leap and joined her students at Doty Elementary School in their Bellin Kids Run. "I thought, if third graders could do it, fourth graders and fifth graders could do it, then there's no reason why an adult can't do it.;" Alyssa remembered.

After constant encouragement from her fellow faculty, Alyssa started running with her students three times a week.  Alyssa told us, it wasn't easy at first. "I remember the first day, it was of a mile, I made it about halfway through and I stopped running," Alyssa recalls. "I stopped jogging and I just heard a little voice beside me say 'Come on Mrs. Brown, you can do it!'

Alyssa now looks at running as a way to encourage her students to be active as well. " Being active with the students and feeling the imperative to be active, to be the role model for them has kind of shaped who I am;" Alyssa says. Along with her success in the Bellin Run, Alyssa has completed a half marathon and says the key to stay motivated is finding a good support group.

You can watch Alyssa and thousands of other runners at this year's Bellin Run, live on MyNew32, WACY starting at 9am on June 9th.
