Family-to-Family Education Program

Do you have family member who lives with a mental illness? Are you in need of support? NAMI Fox Valley can help. NAMI Fox Valley, the Appleton-based affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will offer its Family-to-Family Education Program beginning Jan. 8, 2013. This free, 12-session education course is designed for family members of adults living with mental illness. The course will be held each Tuesday, Jan. 8 to March 26, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at Fox Valley Technical College. For more information or to register, please call (920) 954-1550. Taught by trained instructors who have family members living with mental illness, this nationally-acclaimed course teaches participants coping and supportive skills; current information about the major mental illnesses; brain biology and function; up-to-date information about medications, side effects, and strategies for medication adherence; how to deal with crisis situations; and how to better communicate with their loved one.
