WPT and Appleton Public Library to Offer Free Community Screening and Discussion of Ken Burns’ New PBS Documentary The Dust Bowl

Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) and Appleton Public Library will offer free community screenings, to take place in two sessions, of Ken Burns’ new documentary film The Dust Bowl. The screening events are from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursdays. Dec. 6 and 13 in the lower-level meeting room at Appleton Public Library at 225 N. Oneida Street in Appleton. A facilitated discussion and refreshments will follow each of the screenings. For more information, phone 920-832-6392. The Dust Bowl surveys the causes of the worst man-made ecological disaster in American history, when the frenzied wheat boom of the “Great Plow-Up,” followed by a decade-long drought during the 1930s, nearly swept away the breadbasket of the nation.
